Shipping and Delivery

  1. Shipping within or outside Nairobi incurs a shipping cost of KShs 300 (excludes premium services), except hardship areas. International orders require selection of a shipping method (email orders@jdbookshop.com for details).
  2. JD Classic Bookshop will not provide one shipping cost to orders going to multiple shipping addresses.
  3. JD Classic Bookshop may choose the most appropriate shipping method based on size/weight, destination, and other factors.
  4. Goods to Nairobi ship within 72 hours; up to 5 days for the rest of Kenya. Shipping times are estimates and may be affected by weather, events, or rush periods.
  5. Shipping can be affected by factors outside JD Classic Bookshop's control (incorrect addresses, customs, courier delays).
  6. JD Classic Bookshop is not responsible for incorrect shipping addresses—verify for accuracy.
  7. Customs/duties for international orders are the customer's responsibility.
  8. JD Classic Bookshop cannot be held responsible for costs due to shipment failure or late delivery.
  9. Orders are automatically insured.
  10. Free shipping applies to orders above KSh 3,000 within Kenya using JD Classic Bookshop's preferred courier.
  11. No free shipping for split-address orders.
  12. Split orders may attract additional courier charges.
  13. Sourcing items from multiple branches/distributors may cause delays; JD Classic Bookshop will communicate.
  14. JD Classic Bookshop may choose the most appropriate shipping method.
  15. Shipping fee covers 0–5 kg; extra KSh 50 per additional kg.

Express Shipping

Express delivery is an accelerated service.

  1. Available only within Nairobi Metropolitan.
  2. Orders processed 8:30am–4pm on weekdays (8:30am–12pm Saturdays) for same-day delivery. Outside these times → next working day.
  3. Select Express under delivery options after choosing Nairobi County.
  4. Cost: KShs 500.
  5. To change standard to express delivery, email orders@jdbookshop.com within 1 hour. Additional fees apply.
  6. Any order/delivery change must be communicated within 1 hour. After dispatch, no upgrade to express.
  7. Ensure address accuracy; failed deliveries due to errors are not refunded.
  8. Not available for bulk or large-quantity orders.
  9. JD Classic Bookshop may adjust distance, time, payment, or other variables as needed.

Hardship Areas (Poor Infrastructure)

These areas attract extra shipping fees of at least KSh 1,000:

Baragoi, Bura, Dadaab, Elwak, Garsen, Hola, Habaswein, Ijaara, Lamu, Lodwar, Lokichogio, Mandera, Maralal, Marimanti, Marsabit, Masalani, Mbita, Modogashe, Moyale, Nginyang, Sugutar Marmar, Takaba, Wajir & Wamba.

Delivery time to hardship areas: within 7 days.

The list may change; unlisted areas with limited accessibility count as special zones with adjusted pricing.

Premium Delivery Services

Wells Fargo Kenya Limited (Local Shipping)

Door-to-door delivery for towns outside Nairobi.*

  1. Cost: KSh 406 for up to 5kg.
  2. Weight above 5kg: +KSh 30 per kg.
  3. Delivery every day except Sundays and public holidays.
  4. Orders made after 3pm may be picked the next day.
  5. Hardship areas (e.g., Lokichoggio, Kakuma, Lodwar): First 5kg charged KSh 1,393.68 + VAT.

*Deliveries outside Wells Fargo zones may incur extra fees; the client will be notified.

DHL (International Shipping)

Premium international logistics service.

  • Available when destination address is outside Kenya.
  • Provides instant quotes and 2–3 day transit time to most regions.
  • Customs duties are the receiver's responsibility.
